Year 4

Welcome to Year Four

Your Year 4 teachers are Mrs Keast and Mrs Bennett. Mrs Keast teaches on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Mrs Bennett teaches on a Thursday and Friday. Mrs Clarke and Mrs Washington- Turner are the class TAs.

As part of their homework the children are expected to read every day.  Reading Journals will be checked every week and there is a minimum expectation of each child reading on at least 4 occasions every week. Spellings are handed out every Thursday and then tested the following Wednesday or Thursday.  Times tables are tested on a Wednesday.

We have PE on a Wednesday and Thursday, please ensure that your child's PE kit is in school on these days and that it is clearly labelled. Thank you!

Spanish and Music Share March 2018

Thank you to all who came to see our joint Spanish and Music share. We shared our learning of how to play the Glockenspiels and Chimebars and the correct techniques to play them. We also sang two Spanish songs about parts of the body.  At the end we tasted some traditional Spanish foods and shared some of the Spanish websites we use in class.  Our family members even got to have a go and we were very impressed with what they had learned! We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!

Basketball Festival and Art/Music Workshop - February 2018

On Thursday 8th February Year 4 were invited to St Cuthbert Mayne to take park in either a 'Basketball Festival' or an Art/Music Workshop.  This was a fun event that helped the children develop their skills.

We had a fantastic time and the children were a credit to the school.

Homework and Book Share Session - January 2018

Thank you to everyone who came to our homework and book share session.  The children love to have a wider audience with which to share their hard work.  We were all particularly impressed with the high quality homework that came into school and with how imaginative the children had been with it! It was good to have a designated time to share some our books with you too.  Please remember that parents are welcome to come and share any books with their children at the end of a school day - you do not need an appointment as the teacher does not need to be there for your child to share their books with you.

Spanish - January 2018

On 11th January Matthew Keirman came in to visit us. He is studying GCSE German at Torquay Boys' Grammar School and used to come to this school. He loves learning German and showed us photos of his visit to Germany and Austria last year.  He taught us some German and we played some games.

We thought it was 'Sehr Gut und Wunderbar!' (Very good and wonderful!)
