Mile Club 2019

Picture 1

This year ‘The Mile Club’ is for children in Years 3 and 4 only (max 20 children) which started on Tuesday 5th March 2019.  This club takes place every Tuesday after school from Tuesday 5th March to Tuesday 18th June 2019 between 3.15pm and 4.30pm.  It is a club for children who enjoy running and enjoy being active.

The children are running the equivalent of a half marathon, completing 12 miles within school at ‘The Mile Club’ and finally they will run their last mile at the Torbay Half Marathon where the children will run as a team.

Each child will receive a THHN T-Shirt to run in on the day and once the last mile is completed each child will also receive a medal which will be presented to them.

Report written by Seb (Sports Ambassador)

On Sunday 23rd June a few Year 3s and Year 4s, a couple of teachers and me went to Paignton Green to finish off our school 13.1 mile half marathon.  We were the first school to arrive hence it was 8.30 am.  At 9 am, we were all chivvied along into the box where we waited for the instructors to come along and say, “we’re ready!”.  The atmosphere was filled with mixed emotions; happiness, nervousness, a bit scared too, but mostly excitement!

After being cooped up for quite some time a man came across and filtered us out onto the road (it was closed), where we had to wait another few minutes for everyone to be ready!   When the run started everybody’s face lit up with excitement.  I’m quite sure that everybody jogged all the way which we’ve been trying to accomplish at running club.  Well done runners!
