Autumn Term

Nativity Production

Reception and Nursery have performed a fabulous nativity production at St Mary the Virgin Church, St Marychurch.  We are so proud of how well the children sang and remembered their lines.

Thank you so much to Father Tony for providing his time and church, it made it extra special.

Thank you to all the grown-ups for providing costumes.

Well done Foundation you were fantastic!

Visit to St Mary's Church

On 4th December, Reception class visited St Mary’s Church where they met Father Tony. The children were extremely respectful as they listened to Father Tony tell them about the history of the church. They then explored the different areas of the church and asked lots of brilliant questions. The children particularly enjoyed standing at the lectern, looking at the stained glass windows and climbing into the pulpit. Thank you Father Tony for showing us around. We are looking forward to visiting again for our Christmas concert!

Over this week we have been learning about Harvest.  We found out that lots of our food is grown in the fields by the famers and that they have to be picked before they get in to the shops.  We saw chefs cooking some food and then became chef’s ourselves and cooked soup for our families.  We made leek and potato and carrot soup yum!  We loved chopping up the vegetables and mixing it in with the stock, delicious.

We were not the only ones learning this week.  Our grown ups came and found out how we read and do phonics at school.  Now our grown ups know all about robot talk so we can play this on the way to school.  It was nice that the grown ups could hear the song that we sing so they can join in with us at home.  The grown ups saw how we will get better at reading and writing over the year and how we will be even more fantastic with these skills as we get more practise!

“It was so useful to see how you teach phonics and reading and how we can help at home.”

“I found it very useful to see where they are expected to get to by the end of the year.”

In the first couple of weeks we have been making new friends.   We have been learning the good to be green rules and helping each other. We have explored the whole school from the pond area to the ICT suite.

We are getting quite speedy at putting on our waterproofs.  We have started phonics and are already reading some words!  Mrs Donovan and Mrs Lawrenson think we are amazing!

It’s been fun exploring we can’t wait to do some more.
