Autumn Term

We have continued to build upon our Spanish knowledge this term and have been learning about: classroom routines, revision of days of the week and months of the year, items of clothing and opinions.  During the last two weeks we have been learning about Christmas traditions in Spain.

Follow the link below to find out more.

On the final day of last half term, Year 5 went on an exciting trip to WetheCurious in Bristol. We had a fantastic time interacting with all the exhibits, including making our own animations; a few of which we have uploaded to the website. We also participated in a workshop about what it takes to be an astronaut. We made rockets, tested materials for absorbency to find out which might be suitable for astronaut nappies and used marshmallows to test the effect of no gravity on the astronauts. We also used robotic arms to try and build a tower of blocks.

We also visited the planetarium and went on a journey to several parts of our Solar System. We flew through a meteor shower and saw Halley’s Comet. It was a brilliant day!

We the Curious

This term, we have been learning about inventors. We have made spaghetti bridges and parachutes. In science, we have been learning about forces so far we have learnt about gravity, air resistance and friction. We have also been doing lots investigations.
