Christmas 2020
We want to wish all of our friends and family a very merry Christmas. We've recorded a song to speed some Christmas joy.

Space Dancing
Year Five have been lucky enough to have a visit from Polly at Doorstop Arts. We did lots of work on how to control our bodies during dance and how to listen to each other and work together. Then she taught us how to do a special balance were we lifted each other off the ground. We also practised trust falls. Finally, Polly has started to work with us to develop a dance to our music track – Mars by Holst. We've finished the dance and you can watch it in the video resource centre on the website or by clicking here.
Marvellous Moon Buggies!
This week we have been busy bringing our moon buggy designs to life! We started by exploring how gears, cams and pulleys work and then how we might use these in our designs. We created them by sawing, sanding, gluing, sticking and painting then tested and evaluated them against the design criteria. As you can see, the children rose to the challenge and created some marvellous, moon buggies. Well done Year 5!
Space Odyssey, a mobile planetarium visited us last week to launch our ‘Journey to Space’ topic for this term. Inside the Space Dome we learned about stars as light sources compared with planets/moons reflecting light, the shape and comparative sizes of the Sun, Earth, Moon and planets, shadows, causes of day and night, what a year is, legends behind constellations, the Milky Way, eclipses and phases of the moon, the reason for the seasons, the sun’s path across the sky and the effect on shadows and exploration of the planets and the solar system within the galaxy. We even managed to have time for a Q & A session at the end and our presenter, Simon managed to answer all of them brilliantly!
Our best bits!
Many of us enjoyed ‘taking off’ into space, the legends behind constellations and ‘travelling through space’ at light speed!
