Autumn Term

What we've been reading:

We are becoming authors of lots of different styles, working hard to create our own awesome writing. We used 'Myth Atlas' as inspiration for our own Myth stories, 'Little People Big Dreams' inspired our biographies, 'Blue John' has been inspiration for our Gemstone origin stories, and 'Everything You Need to Know About Snakes' has inspired our information texts about Tectonic Plates and Volcanoes!

Sweet arrays:

We started our multiplication topic by remembering that x means 'groups of'. We then started exploring how factors are commutative, for example: 5 groups of 3, and 3 groups of 5 are both 15! We got to use sweets to make some arrays, following this with drawing what we'd represented and then writing our number sentences. We noticed that we can look vertically or horizontally when counting our groups, and this can change our number sentence.

The BEST part was eating the sweets after!

A-Games:

Half of year 4 had the fantastic opportunity to go a sports event at St Cuthbert Mayne. We had a great time trying out table tennis, bounce fitness, waveboarding, and orienteering.
