Our Autumn Term Plan for Nursery Class

Week starting the 12th December. Learning about Christmas and meeting Father Christmas. Making wreaths and Christmas crafts. Investigating ice on a walk around the school.

We have been going on regular trips to the school library. We love looking at the books and sharing stories.

Celebrating Christmas in Nursery Class.

October 2022. This half term's values certificate awards.

Week starting 31st October. Halloween fun. Learning about bonfire night and firework safety. We also planted some wonderful smelling herbs and some spring bulbs in our garden area.

Thank you so much for your kind donations for the food bank! Happy Harvest everyone!

18th October an autumn walk to the field and the garden. When we were on the big field, a rubbish lorry stopped outside to collect the bins. We watched the workers load up the bins onto the machine on the back of the lorry. They all waved to us and when they set off, they gave us some friendly beeps from the lorry horn!

Week starting the 17th October. This week we are celebrating harvest by reading scarecrow stories and making bread hedgehogs.

Logan has very kindly brought in some yummy cakes to share at snack time. He made them with Billy Bear.

10th October. Today we went to the big school hall for the first time. We listened to instructions really well. We learned how to use all of the space and to be aware of our friends when we are running. We moved around the hall like lots of different animals. The elephants had very loud stompy feet. The cats prowled around very quietly.

Making apple crumble to celebrate harvest. We also had lots of fun making flags to go on our sandcastles today.

Today we made lovely playdough that smelled of nutmeg and cinnamon. The children helped to make it. We made super sweet little hedgehog families with our playdough. Perhaps you could try to make some at home. If you make it at home, you don't have to use cream of tartar. The children can help with all of the making but not the bit where the adult adds the boiling water. We had to wait for it to cool before we could play with it.

Week starting the 3rd October. Lots more autumn fun and adventures! We loved making a marble run for the conkers and doing some autumn leaf rubbing pictures.

Today Ida shared her story with us. She kindly brought it in to share with all her friends. Ida helped Mrs Smethurst to read the story. It was about a teddy bear who comes to life when he is washed. We really enjoyed the story. Thank you Ida!

Our first trip to the big school field and an autumn walk to the garden and pond area. On the field we did some cloud watching. The children saw clouds that looked like dinosaurs and dolphins. We collected autumn things to take back to nursery. We found interesting leaves, sticks, hazelnuts and apples. We brought the apples back to eat in nursery and to take home to share with our families. We also spotted the fish in the pond.

Today Layla shared her book that she brought in to show us. She confidently helped Mrs Smethurst to read the story to her friends. We all really enjoyed sharing the story. The story was about a little girl who likes to be noisy, but learns that being quiet sometimes is important too.

27th September. Making a huge habitat for the animals. Working and playing together. We have also enjoyed playing with the small world farm today.

Making yummy waffles for snack time!

Week starting the 26th September. This week we are starting our autumn topic. We have done all sorts of activities. One thing that we have made are some lovely transient autumn pictures. Nursery class have also planted some flowers in our raised bed. We have made hedgehog pictures with our hand prints.

Making yummy waffles to enjoy at snack time! We listened carefully to instructions and enjoyed measuring and mixing. We made them without eggs and milk as some of our friends have allergies.

Week starting the 20th September. This week some of the nursery children have showed us their collections of 'autumn treasures'. We have loved exploring the conkers, leaves and other signs of autumn that the children have brought in. We have also had lots of fun exploring inside and outside with all of our new friends.

The first two weeks of nursery. The children have had lots of fun exploring the nursery and making new friends.
