Homework

Reading

Children are expected to read at least 4 times a week - this is treated as homework. Please encourage them to do so and to write in their reading journals every time that they read. Reading journals will be collected in every week, on a Friday, and will be checked by an adult.

Spellings

Individual spelling lists will be tested and added to weekly. Blue books MUST be brought in and out of school every day so they can be used and referred to at home and in school. Details of the current Literacy Unit Spellings (Year 5/6 words) are on a separate document attached to this page.

Homework Logs

Every week, children will be given at least two pieces of homework which will go into their Homework Logs. This homework will be given out on a Thursday and expected in on a Tuesday. There is an expectation that care and attention is given to this homework – quality and neat presentation will be rewarded.

In Year 6, we encourage children to take responsibility for their homework - making sure it is completed on time. If homework is not understood, it is the children’s responsibility to ask the adults in class for support so they are able to complete it. We encourage parents to engage with home learning and if you do help in anyway, please make a note of this in their logs.
