Homework

Reading

Children are expected to read at least 4 times a week - this is treated as homework.  Please encourage them to do so and to write in their reading journals every time that they read.  Reading journals will be collected in every week, on a Thursday, and will be checked by an adult.  We encourage all children to take part in our reading challenge, bookopoly, a copy of which is stuck in the front of their reading journal and can also be found on our class page.

Spellings

Children will receive weekly spellings on a Wednesday and will be tested on these on the following Wednesday.

Key Number Facts

It is expected that children will practise key number facts at home, in particular, their muliplication tables.  An adult will be testing children on their multiplication tables every Wednesday.  It is an expectation that children will know all of their multiplication tables by the end of year 4.

In addition to this, children will be set another piece of homework learning on a Friday.  This will either be maths or reading comprehension and will be due in on the following Wednesday.  Homework will come home in a special homework book, which children will be proud of.  All homework should be written in pencil, as this is the tool that we use at school.

Additional homework may be sent home periodically to further enrich your child's learning.  We try to make this additional homework fun and interactive - something which you can do together at home.
