World book day 2022

In the 25^th year of World Book Days, World Book Day 2022 was a great day of celebrating a love of reading and all things books at Homelands!

Each class had a focus author who they found out about over the course of the day;

Nursery- Judith Kerr

Reception- Martin Waddell

Year 1- Julia Donaldson

Year 2-Oliver Jeffers

Year 3- Dick King-Smith

Year 4- Leisa Stewart -Sharpe

Year 5- Shaun Tan

Year 6- Aaron Becker

Each class shared a favourite book they had brought in from home with one of their peers and they talked about how they saw themselves as readers and what they liked/disliked about reading. It was really special to have time to talk to our classes about who they were as readers and to find out more about their reading preferences. We will definitely be taking their thoughts on board!

At the end of the day we had a whole school celebration assembly, where each class shared something they had found out about their author.
