This week we are going back to words on the statutory word list for Year 6.

The statutory words are the words you are expected to be able to spell by the end of Year 6.

This week you will be revising this set of words:

  • To help you with this, work through the spelling tasks on the spelling task document.
  • Remember you can always use the spelling strategies activities (see below)
  • On Friday ask someone to test you!

A homophone is a word that is pronounced the same (to varying extent) as another word but differs in meaning. A homophone may also differ in spelling.

Task 1:

  • How many homophones can you remember?
  • Create your own list.
  • Compare what you have with the KS2 list below.

Task 2:

  • Pick 5 pairs of homophones (10 words)
  • Write each word into a sentence, making sure you are using the correct meaning.
