Welcome to Year 4

The class teachers are Mrs Keast and Mr Treadwell.  Mr Treadwell will be teaching the class on a Monday and Friday and Mrs Keast will be teaching on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Mrs Stephens and Mrs Burke are the teaching assistants.  Mrs Stephens is in the class all day and Mrs Burke will be in the classroom every morning and two afternoons each week.

In Year Four, we work hard to develop children’s independence to prepare them for Upper Key Stage Two.  Children will be expected to have what they need with them on the correct days.

P.E kit should be in school every day in preparation for our P.E lessons on Monday and Thursday.

Children are expected to read at home at least 4 times a week and should bring their reading books into school every day as well as taking them home at the end of every day.  Reading Journals will be checked every week on a Friday so that we can monitor children’s reading.

Spellings will be set weekly and will be tested and set on a Thursday.

Homework will be set on a Friday and will be due in on a Tuesday.  One week this will be a maths task, related to what we have been learning in class.  The following week this will be a literacy based task.

This year’s Year Four class will be the first to have a national multiplication assessment in the summer term.  It is an expectation that all children know all of their multiplication and division facts up to 12 x 12. These should be practised at home on a regular basis and children will be tested weekly.  To support children with home practise, we have enrolled all children on a website / app called ‘Times Tables Rockstar’.  For those of you that have access to the internet, this is a great way for children to practise and challenge their classmates.  This can be accessed on a PC, tablet, iPad or mobile phone by using the following link https://play.ttrockstars.com/ or downloading the Times Tables Rockstar app.

Each term we will be 'show-casing'  our learning through our class page.
