In Year 1 your class teacher is Miss Shorland. We also have Mrs Burke, Mrs Fuller, Mrs Lee and Mrs Ivey to support us with our learning.
Every week, children will have either a piece of literacy or maths homework to help them carry on this weeks learning at home. Please complete all activities in pencil. Children will have a weekly spelling list. They will be tested on a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday and will receive their new list before the end of the week. Children are tested on their number bonds every Thursday.
We have PE on a Thursday and Friday, please ensure that your child's PE kit is in school on these days and that it is clearly labelled with their name. Children need indoor and outdoor PE kits in school all through the year.
Music Share July 2018
We loved sharing our learning of the topic called 'Your Imagination' to our wonderful family and friends. We hoped you liked our challenge game to show how to keep the pulse, our singing in two parts and our amazing Chimebar playing. Thank you all for coming!

We finished our Music topic of Jack and the Beanstalk topic this term and thought we would share our two favourite songs with you.

Jack and the Beanstalk Music Share - February 6th 2018
We shared our musical learning of tempo, long and short notes, pitch and performing actions whilst singing through the songs we had learned based around the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. Thank you to all who came and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
We have had a very exciting day in Year 1 today because Santa came for a visit. He has heard about how hard we have been working this term and thought we deserved a special treat. Thank you Santa!
On Wednesday 6th December, Year 1 had a special science visit from Alex at Recycle Devon. Together they explored and described materials, had fun being recycling heroes and sorted lots of materials into the recycling boxes. The children are looking forward to trying this at home.
As part of our science this year, Year 1 will be exploring how seasons change. Thank you to everyone who collected the Autumn leaves for our Autumn collages. We had great fun exploring the colours and textures. We used magnifying glasses to observe the tiniest parts of the leaves and drew careful, detailed pictures of what we could see. We also went on an Autumn walk in the garden to see what we could see.
