Part-time1:1 Teaching Assistant
An exciting opportunity to work in our fantastic Foundation Stage Unit. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual with a commitment to high quality Early Years education to join our team. You should be a qualified Teaching Assistant ( at least NVQ3 equivalent). Experience of working with children with special educational needs is desirable. The post will involve 1:1 work with a child in Reception class.
Effective communication skills, motivation, initiative, commitment to flexible team working and a strong understanding of the EYFS is essential and a good understanding/experience of working with 2/3 year olds is desirable.
A working knowledge of speech, language and communication development and Makaton is desirable as the child has very specific communication difficulties and requires various strategies to communicate, including PECS and Makaton.
A willingness to engage and learn about these and other strategies is essential. A willingness and sound ability to communicate sensitively and appropriately with parents is also essential, with confidentiality being at the heart of this communication.
Having a current Paediatric First Aid qualification would be an advantage or an agreement to access this training if required.
This post is temporary as it is linked to a named child and will depend on the child remaining at the school.
The working hours will be: 08.45-12.45 Monday, 08.45-12.00 Tuesday and Thursday ; Wednesday and Friday 08.45-12.30.
