YEAR 5 VISIT
THE NATIONAL MARINE AQUARIUM IN PLYMOUTH
On Tuesday 23rd April, Year 5 visit the aquarium as the hook to this term's learning journey: Climate Conundrum.
In the morning, the children had an interactive tour of all the wonderful sea life there. After lunch, they took part in a workshop all about our world's changing climate. The children took part in experiments to explore the effects of climate change on coral and experienced coral reefs through virtual reality headsets.
It was a busy day full of questions and learning!
HAPPY WORLD BOOK DAY 2024!
Autumn 2 Homework Share - Mountains.
We are very impressed again with the effort the children have put into their homework projects this half term.
Friday 11th November – St Marychurch Visit
Inspired by their learning about the 5 Pillars of Islam, Year 5 decided to donate an old / unwanted toy to charity to help others. We chose he Children’s Society knowing their donation would be helping other children. A big thank you to Julie at the Children’s Society in St Marychurch who welcomed every child, taking the time to speak to them and thank them individually - it was such a lovely experience. While in St Marychurch, we also took the opportunity to visit the church ahead of Remembrance Weekend. The children walked around the church grounds, looking at the wonderful displays and paid their respects.
HOMEWORK SHARE - EARTH & SPACE
We are very proud of the work the children have produced for their homework this half term.
In Science, Year 5 discovered just how enormous our solar system is when we looked at the distance between the planets by using toilet roll. Each sheet was worth 16 million KM! We couldn't fit Neptune on our school field it would have been in someone's garden!
