Mobile Phones

As you may be aware, the government has introduced changes to the expectations they have of schools around the use of mobile devices, such as phones and smart watches, on school premises. In line with all the other primary schools in Education South West, we will continue to be a mobile phone/device free environment by default.

Currently, there are some exceptions to this; for example, if a child needs their mobile phone for medical purposes or if a child in Years 4, 5 or 6 travels to school on their own. These exceptions will continue but MUST be agreed between the school and the parent in writing. Strict rules will also apply to how the devices are stored and used on school premises.

Our permission form must be completed and signed by a parent/carer before a pupil is permitted to bring a mobile phone or device to school. If your child currently brings their phone to school e.g. Year 4, 5 or 6, or, if you think they might need to in the future, you must sign and return the permission form; available from the office.
