Accelerated Reader

Here at Homelands we are using the Accelerated Reader programme.  Accelerated Reader is a powerful tool that helps teachers to manage and monitor children's independent reading practice by using information generated by the software.  Your child picks a book at their own level and reads it at their own pace.  When they have finished your child will take a short quiz on the computer - passing the quiz indicates that your child has understood what they have read.  AR helps develop lifelong readers.  To find out more please have a look at the documents at the bottom of this page.

It is really important that your child has support with their reading at home.  Discussing the book that they have read will help  them in preparing to 'Quiz' the next day.

Searching for Accelerated Reader books is fun and easy with the free online tool. This will help you find books appropriate for your child to read.  The link is below.
