Careers Learning

Vision Statement:

Through our Careers Related Learning, pupils at Homelands will build up their knowledge of the opportunities there are for employment in their future world, and the skills they need to thrive within this.

Steve Darling MP

On Friday 10th January Steve Darling came to visit with his Guide Dog Jennie. We had just reminded ourselves about the British Value The Rule of Law in assembly.  Steve Darling shared with us the sorts of things he does as an MP.  He said that in school he really enjoyed History and Geography and he knew that he wanted to do a job that would help others.  He explained that he has to work closely as a team and think carefully about priorities so he can share in parliament what he feels the people need in Torquay.

Thank you Mr Darling for coming in a sharing what it is like to be an MP.  We may have some from Homelands one day!

Fire service

On the 12th December the Fire service came to talk to use about keeping safe.  They also talked about the skills you need to get in to the fire service and what the job involves.  One of the strangest things they had to do was rescue a cow from a swimming pool!  They talked about the importance of keeping fit and healthy.  Several children said they were interested in joining the fire service.

Forest School

On 29th April Ms Rees who runs Forest School for Homelands, came to talk to us about how Little Squirrels came about.  She talked to us about the courses she took and how her love for the outdoors led to her setting up her business.
